Turkish media representatives visit Aghali village of Azerbaijan’s Zangilan district

A group of Turkish media representatives on Monday familiarized themselves with the Aghali village of Zangilan district as part of their visit to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur regions.
AZERTAC’s regional correspondent reports that the journalists were welcomed by the employees of the Special Representative Office of Azerbaijani President in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, which are a part of the Eastern Zangezur economic region.
The journalists were informed about the history of Zangilan district, which was occupied by Armenia for 27 years. The district and its infrastructure were completely destroyed by Armenians. The nature of Zangilan was also subjected to ecological terror. Following Azerbaijan’s brilliant victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, Zangilan district was liberated from the occupation and the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works were launched in the district. The restoration and reconstruction works based on the “smart village” concept had been implemented in the Aghali village. They were also informed about the Great Return program, which ensured the return of the Aghali village residents to their native lands.
They were briefed about the latest stage of return to the village, with another 22 families (106 people) relocated to the village. A total of 108 families (526 people) have been resettled in the village so far. The village has all the necessary infrastructure for the relocated families, including public services center, school, kindergarten, bank, post office as well as public catering facilities.
The Turkish media reps were also informed about the rapid progress of the construction of Horadiz-Aghband railway and Ahmadbayli-Horadiz-Minjivan-Aghband highway passing through the territory of Zangilan. The Zangilan International Airport, the construction of which started in April 2021, was inaugurated with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
