A “Dostlug” Park has been inaugurated in Lankaran’s Istisu district as part of the twinning partnership between Lankaran and the US City of Monterey.
Head of the Lankaran City Executive Authority Taleh Garashov, Co-Chairperson of the Lankaran-Monterey Friendship Association Nancy Selfridge and Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Los Angeles Ramil Gurbanov attended the inauguration of the park.
Addressing the event, Taleh Garashov noted that Lankaran and the City of Monterey had established a sister city partnership in 2011. He also proposed holding the Days of Monterey in the newly inaugurated park, adding that it would boost the relations between the two cities and their communities.
Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Los Angeles Ramil Gurbanov noted that the overall dynamic development of bilateral relations between the two cities and closer relations between communities contribute to the activity of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
Chairperson of the Lankaran-Monterey Friendship Association Nancy Selfridge expressed their interest in developing relations between the two cities. She also stressed the importance of hosting the Days of Lankaran in Monterey in terms of promoting the development of bilateral relations as well as customs and traditions of both countries.
