The manuscript of the Kyrgyz epic “Manas” was included in the UNESCO Heritage List

The manuscript of one of the variants of the Kyrgyz epic “Manas” is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, the press service of the Kyrgyz leader reports, according to Morning Express.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay, who arrived in the country on an official visit.
An exchange of views took place on issues of cooperation in the field of preventing the consequences of climate change, the preservation and development of cultural and historical heritage.
Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to cooperation with UNESCO, in particular, the expansion of international contacts in the fields of education and science.
The Kyrgyz leader expressed hope for UNESCO’s support in the development of the national creative industry, primarily in Central Asia, within the framework of regional initiatives on the use of technology and digital innovations.
Audrey Azoulay, in turn, thanked Japarov for the hospitality, noting that it was a great honor for her to come to Kyrgyzstan for the first time.
She noted with satisfaction the active position of Kyrgyzstan in cooperation with UNESCO in the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of mankind.
At the end of the meeting, Azule presented Zhaparov with a certificate on the inclusion of the manuscript of the epic “Manas” in the version of the manaschi of Sagymbay Orozbakov in the list of intangible heritage.
