Azerbaijani Para athletes to compete in IBSA World Games 2023

Azerbaijani Para athletes will contest medals at the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games to be held in Birmingham, Great Britain on August 18-27.
Azerbaijan`s hopes will be pinned on 20 athletes, who will join judo and chess competitions.
The 2023 World Games is the largest high-level international event for athletes with visual impairment, which will bring together more than 1,700 competitors and support staff from 70 nations.
The programme of the competition includes powerlifting, judo, goalball, football, chess, tenpin bowling, shooting and showdown, as well as cricket, archery and tennis. The men’s and women's IBSA Blind Football World Championships and the partially sighted World Championships will take place as part of the event.
Normally staged every four years the World Games are the pinnacle of IBSA’s international calendar outside of the Paralympic Games. With three Paralympic and eight non-Paralympic sports, for some athletes it is the highest level they can compete at. The last IBSA World Games were held in Seoul, South Korea, in 2015.
