Azerbaijani FM informs PACE monitoring co-rapporteurs about current situation in the region

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Azerbaijan Ian Liddell-Grainger and Lise Christoffersen.
The meeting saw discussions on issues of cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and PACE, future prospects as well as current situation in the region and PACE’s possible contributions to Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided insight into the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, including the large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects implemented by Azerbaijan. He also highlighted major steps taken by Azerbaijan towards ensuring peace and stability in the region, including signing the peace treaty, unblocking all the communication lines and other issues, despite Armenia’s provocations and attempts to hinder the process. The discussions also revolved around the ongoing mine threats as well as Armenia not fulfilling its obligations under the trilateral statement of 10 November.
PACE monitoring co-rapporteurs touched upon their visit to Aghdam district, saying they have familiarized themselves with large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan. They also stressed the importance of ensuring peace and security in the region.
The sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
