Azerbaijan, Russia hold consultations on Caspian Sea

The bilateral consultations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation on issues of the Caspian Sea has taken place in Moscow.
The Azerbaijani side was represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister, special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on border issues and the Caspian Sea Khalaf Khalafov, while the Russian side by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border of the Russian Federation with CIS countries Mikhail Petrakov.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the Caspian Sea and five-sided cooperation.
The two emphasized that clarifying the positions on the issues related to the agenda of the High-Level Working Group for Caspian Sea will contribute to mutual understanding and the effectiveness of the next meeting of the group.
During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on creating direct baselines in the Caspian Sea and draft agreements on industry cooperation, which are in the stage of coordination between the littoral Caspian states, as well as on security issues in the Caspian region.
