Azerbaijan, EU hold 10th Subcommittee meeting on Justice, Freedom, Security (JFS) and Human Rights and Democracy

The Republic of Azerbaijan and The European Union have held the 10th Subcommittee meeting on Justice, Freedom, Security (JFS) and Human Rights and Democracy.
The meeting was co-chaired by the head of the Department of cooperation with international institutions in the field of human rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aysel Yagubova and the head of the division for Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus at the European External Action Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga.
The sides had open and constructive discussion on issues of mutual importance related to the sub-committee's activities.
In the first part of the event, dedicated to human rights and democracy, they exchanged views on civil, economic, political, cultural and social rights, national institutions in the field of human rights protection, justice, law enforcement agencies and protection of human rights in the penitentiary system, as well as cooperation issues in international forums.
In the second part, they addressed issues of cooperation in law, justice and judicial cooperation, migration, asylum and border management, fight against organized crime and terrorism, as well as protection of personal data.
At the meeting, Azerbaijan was represented by Presidential Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies as well as representatives of the office of the Human Rights Commissioner.
The European External Action Service (EEAS), various structural divisions of the European Commission and the representatives of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the meeting on behalf of the EU.
The meeting also exchange of views with the EU Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore.
