Fernando Alonso wants to be Lewis Hamilton’s teammate again as F1 legend shares retirement plan

Baku, April 18, AZERTAC
Fernando Alonso has shockingly claimed that he wants to be teammates with Sir Lewis Hamilton again, but the F1 legend appears to have different plans, according to the Metro.
Alonso raced alongside a then-rookie Hamilton at McLaren in 2007, and the Spaniard was expected to dominate the young Brit having won just back-to-back titles with Renault.
But Hamilton was able to match him and soon the atmosphere at McLaren turned toxic as the pair clashed numerous times as they battled for the championship - with both eventually losing to Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen by just a single point.
Alonso returned to Renault the following year, and though the relationship between both world champions is far, far better than it was 16 years ago, few could imagine the pair ever being teammates again.
But that is exactly what Alonso wants, with the 41-year-old telling the Daily Mail: ‘It would be nice to end our careers together. I’d love that.
‘We had a difficult season. The situation that season was not well-managed by our bosses. We were young. We were immature. We were many of the things we are not now, and we needed help from the management that we didn’t get.
The 2023 F1 season continues on April 30th with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
