‘Azerbaijan targets 4 million foreign and 6 million local tourists per year by 2026’

“We are targeting to increase the number of foreign tourists up to 4 million, whereas the number of local tourists to 6 million per year by 2026, said Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev at the opening ceremony of the 19th Azerbaijan International Tourism and Travel Exhibition - AITF 2023 held today at Baku Expo Center.
“Currently our main goal is to return figures to pre-pandemic levels and ensure more flexible activity than before. Last year, 1.6 million tourists visited Azerbaijan, which is 50% of the indicator of 2019," Naghiyev said.
The chairman also noted that the main goal is to promote Azerbaijan as a sustainable and quality travel destination, adding that large-scale works are being carried out by the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau in this regard.
