International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Lithuania discuss cooperation

As part of her visit to the Republic of Lithuania, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva has held meetings with Advisor to the President of the Republic of Lithuania on Education, Science and Culture Vilma Backiute and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Survila.
During the meetings, the successful implementation of mutual cooperation on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Republic of Lithuania was discussed. The importance of the attention paid at the state level to the peoples of Turkic ethnic origin - Tatars and Karaims - settled in the territory of Lithuania was noted. As a clear example of this attitude, the declaration of 2021 as the "Year of the History and Culture of the Tatars" and 2022 as the "Year of the History and Culture of the Karaims" in the Republic of Lithuania was highlighted.
Meetings of First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania Diana Nausediene, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis with the President of the Foundation, as well as their participation in the events held by the organization as part of the opening of the Years of Tatars and Karaims were touched upon. As part of the discussions, the Foundation's ongoing cooperation with other foreign countries, including the European space, was highly appreciated.
Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Lithuania Tamerlan Garayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Azerbaijan Egidius Navikas took part in the meetings.
The meetings continued with discussions of prospects for cooperation in the direction of intensifying mutual relations and cultural exchanges between Lithuania and the member states of the organization.
