Shusha, February 4, AZERTAC The group of 30 international travelers from 12 countries have today visited the city of Shusha as part of their trip to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur regions.The visitors first viewed the peaceful protest of Azerbaijani ecologists and young volunteers on the Lachin-Khankendi road passing through Shusha over the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits, especially the Gizilbulag gold and Damirli copper-molybdenum deposits located in the Azerbaijani territories, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, which has been going on for nearly two months.The travelers were informed about the protest, with slogans being chanted, and protesters ensuring the free access to the road for humanitarian purposes.The visitors then enjoyed the fascinating panorama of the Jidir Duzu plain. They also viewed the shot monuments of Azerbaijan’s prominent personalities, including Khurshidbanu Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibayli at the Central Square of Shusha.The employee of the Shusha City State Reserve provided an insight into the history of the city. The travelers were also informed about the large-scale restoration process carried out here following the liberation of the city after almost 30 years of Armenian occupation during which historical buildings, monuments and mosques were subjected to Armenian vandalism. The international travelers also viewed the “Khan gizi” spring, the House of Khurshidbanu Natavan, as well as the Walls of Shusha Fortress. During the occupation, the Walls of Shusha Fortress were subjected to Armenian vandalism. Following the liberation, the restoration works were also carried out in the fortress.This visit once again shows that the interest of international travelers to the destructions in the liberated areas, as well as the reconstruction and restoration works and demining process carried out here has increased significantly.Over the past two years, the large delegations of the major international travel networks, such as ETIC, MTP, TCC, NomadMania and the Turkish Travel Club, have visited Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur five times.As in previous trips, the international travelers group is accompanied by well-known Azerbaijani traveler Mehraj Mahmudov.The trip is of great importance in terms of promoting Azerbaijani liberated territories in the framework of black tourism.During the three-day trip, travelers from 12 countries will visit Fuzuli, Khojavand, Shusha, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Jabrayil and Aghdam districts, and eye witness the atrocities committed by Armenians in the liberated territories.
