World countries condemn terrorist attack on Azerbaijan’s embassy in Iran

The foreign policy institutions and officials from all over the world have issued statements condemning the terrorist act against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who immediately responded to the incident, tweeted: “I condemn the treacherous armed attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran. I wish Allah`s mercy upon our martyred brother, condolences to his relatives and the people of Azerbaijan, and speedy recovery to the injured. Azerbaijan is never alone. Azerbaijan and Türkiye are one nation, two states.”
“I was horrified by the reports about the armed attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran that caused a loss of life and injuries,” head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said in his twitter account.
Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed condolence in her telegram channel over the killing of the head of the security service of the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran saying: “We are shocked over the attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan, killing one security guard. We express condolence and support to our Azerbaijani colleagues.”
Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan also expressed their solidarity with the country, expressing their condolences to the family of the employee, who was killed in terrorist attack. The embassies of the U.S., Afghanistan, Italy, Israel, Belarus, Iraq, Croatia, Japan, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Palestine, Argentina, Morocco, France, United Kingdom called this terrorist act a threat to international law.
Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Marija Pejčinović Burić, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva, as well as GUAM and the Organization of Turkic States have also strongly condemned this crime against the diplomatic mission.
On January 27, around 8:30 am Baku time, as a result of an armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran, head of the security service of the embassy Orkhan Asgarov was killed and two other employees injured. The person, who committed the terrorist act, was neutralized by the embassy security officer and was detained by the Iranian police.
