Azerbaijan, OIC discuss bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has had a telephone conversation with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.
During the phone conversation, the sides discussed the Azerbaijan-OIC cooperation, topical issues on the organization's agenda, as well as future plans.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan and the OIC maintain cooperation in various spheres, including politics, economics, culture, education, and other fields. He hailed discussions held during the OIC secretary general’s visit to Azerbaijan and in the framework of the UN General Assembly.
Touching upon the successful organization of joint events held over the past year, the sides exchanged views on the events scheduled for 2023, including preparations for the 49th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers due to be held in Mauritania in March of this year.
They highlighted the importance of solidarity, the OIC member states' joint efforts in the fight against Islamophobia and terrorism, as well as poverty that threaten international peace and security, including intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
During the conversation, the sides also exchanged views on other regional issues.
