Boris Pistorius appointed as Germany's new defense minister

President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has appointed Boris Pistorius as Germany's new defense minister. He was sworn in the same day at the Bundestag following resignation of Christine Lambrecht .
Boris Pistorius will meet today with the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. He will also represent Germany at the Rammstein Air Base Meeting, which will see discussions around military support and supply of Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.
