Japan's daily COVID deaths hit record at 456

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 456 deaths from coronavirus infections on Friday, the highest single-day toll in the country since the pandemic began, according to NHK World-Japan.
Nationwide, 245,542 new cases were confirmed on Friday.
The ministry also says 20,720 new cases were confirmed in Tokyo on Friday. The daily tally is up 6,195 from a week ago.
Ministry officials reported 29 deaths in the capital.
