Great of India Exhibition opens in Baku

The Great of India Exhibition, showcasing high quality products and services from India, including gifts and handicrafts, home decor items, textile and garments, jewelry, cosmetics and Indian food items etc. was inaugurated by Charge d’Affaires of India in Azerbaijan Vinay Kumar at Sharg Bazaar, Karabakh Street, 15 Khatai Ave, Baku.
In his opening remarks, Charge d’Affaires Vinay Kumar said India and Azerbaijan enjoy close and friendly relations based on historical and cultural links.
“Following the gradual easing of COVID related restrictions, the level of our business interactions are likewise growing strongly. Our bilateral trade during January-October 2022 reached US$ 1.767 billion, increasing by 184.3% in comparison to the same period of last year. During this period, India was Azerbaijan's fourth largest trade partner after Italy, Turkey, Russia,” he stressed.
Charge d’Affaires Vinay Kumar also noted that introduction of direct flights by Azerbaijani Airlines between Baku and Delhi as well as Baku and Mumbai has further contributed in promoting people-to-people contacts.
“Azerbaijan is gradually coming up as a major tourism destination for Indian tourists. With the steady increase in Indian tourists’ arrivals in Azerbaijan, India has now become the fourth largest source of tourists in Azerbaijan after Russia, Turkey and Iran,” Vinay Kumar mentioned.
He noted that there is a huge scope for cooperation with Azerbaijan in the various sectors as the country offers good opportunities for Indian products.
During the 10 days on 16-26 December 2022, the exhibition will introduce to the people of Azerbaijan the various Indian products and will generate much interest to learn more about the Indian economy and culture.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
Visitors can also enjoy live song and dance performances, and visit henna (Mehndi) stalls in the Exhibition hall.
