Baku, December 13, AZERTAC The spectacle performed by the actors of the Baku Municipal Theater was prepared based on the motifs of the works by the People's Writers of Azerbaijan, Ilyas Afandiyev’s play “Karabakhname" ("The Ruler and his Daughter") and Elchin's novel "Head".Speaking before the performance, the production director, People's Artist of Azerbaijan Merahim Farzalibayov, thanked the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation for its support to the Baku Municipal Theater. He provided information about the play and talked about the creative works of Ilyas Afandiyev, a classic of the 20th century Azerbaijani literature, and the prominent writer Elchin.The main idea of the play dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, Shusha, and the 30th anniversary of the Baku Municipal Theater, includes the struggle of Azerbaijan for its statehood, despite the difficulties endured for many years. The play, which tells about the tragedies caused by General Sisianov in the South Caucasus, as well as the life of Agabeyim Agha, the daughter of the Khan of Karabakh Ibrahimkhalil Khan, shows the plight of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh khanates, with high artistic means.In the play "My Heart Remained in Shusha", it is especially emphasized that Agabeyim Agha, who renounced her love for the Motherland, wrote with longing for her homeland and did not forget that beautiful Karabakh. Many of Agabeyim Agha poems have been passed down through word of mouth in South Azerbaijan and in her native land and are still alive today.The production director of the play is People's Artist Merahim Farzalibayov, the composer is People's Artist Eldar Mansurov, and the decorator-artist is Ilham Asgarov.In conclusion of the event, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva presented the Foundation’s memorable gifts and certificates of appreciation to the creative team of the Baku Municipal Theater. The chief director of the theater, Merahim Farzalibayov, in turn, gave the presents from the theater to the President of the Foundation, Gunay Afandiyeva, and the General Secretary of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev.
