Days of Shusha held in Bursa

In connection with the declaration of Shusha as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for 2023, the Days of Shusha has been held in Bursa, Turkiye. As part of the event, the status of "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" was transferred from Bursa to Shusha.
The opening ceremony was held on the first day of the event, jointly organized by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
Chairman of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha District Aydin Karimov, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanichbek Omuraliyev and Governor of Bursa Yakup Canbolat stated that festivals, sports games, promotion programs and many other events reflecting the common culture were held within the framework of the "Year of Bursa", and many politicians, cultural and scientific figures of the Turkic World came to Bursa in connection with this.
Reminding that the status of "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" will be transferred to Shusha next year, the speakers gave the participants extensive information about Shusha.
The city of Shusha, which is the cradle of culture of Azerbaijan, was liberated with a glorious Victory after 30 years of occupation as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, and this event is regarded as a turning point in Turkic history.
It was noted that during the occupation, the cultural and spiritual heritage of Shusha, including historical monuments and mosques, were destroyed by the Armenians, and the city was left in ruins. Currently, the Azerbaijani government is carrying out restoration and reconstruction works in these areas. In the near future, the relocation of Azerbaijani citizens to their native homes is one of the main goals of the state.
The speakers stated that Shusha, an epic of heroism, sacrifice and love, is known in the world for its cultural heritage, mysterious nature, historical figures such as poets, writers and genius musicians who gave great ideas to human heritage, emphasized that the city was brought back to life after the being liberated from occupation, and Azerbaijani cultural and historical heritage was revived.
It was stated that the declaration of Shusha, which has a special meaning for the people of Azerbaijan, as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World", is especially important for the further strengthening of unity and equality between the peoples of the Turkic world, and for the development of cooperation. Shusha is an open-air museum reflecting the history of Azerbaijan. In the future, the smell of Khari bulbul will be felt in Shusha, Karabakh horses will show their stature, and the capital of Azerbaijani culture will be shown to the world in a worthy way.
Touching on Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, the speakers noted that every state of the Turkic World is important for Turkiye. It was stated that Turkiye has always accepted all the issues of Azerbaijan as its own issues. The main architects of the union between the two countries are President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The unity demonstrated by two genius leaders is an example for the world.
Then, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva presented certificates and special gifts to those who contributed to the organization of the Days of Shusha held in Bursa in order to transfer the status of "Cultural Capital of the Turkic world" from Bursa to Shusha.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkiye Rashad Mammadov, Consul General of the country in Istanbul Narmina Mustafayeva, representatives of state institutions and others took part in the ceremony.
Events featuring the culture, national values and national dresses of Azerbaijan were organized within the two days of "Days of Shusha".
