Mexico eliminated from World Cup despite 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia

Mexico was eliminated from the FIFA 2022 World Cup despite a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in Group C on Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Despite several efforts from both sides, neither national team was able to produce a goal in the first half at Lusail Stadium.
Mexico broke the deadlock, however, when Henry Martin made a close-range finish in the 48th minute.
After five minutes, Luis Chavez scored a spectacular long-range free-kick to beat goalkeeper Mohammed Alowais.
Hirving Lozano made the score 3-0, but it was disallowed for a tight offside call in the 56th minute.
In the 87th minute, Mexico's Uriel Antuna produced a goal, but it was disallowed again for a call.
Saudi Arabia's Salem Aldawsari netted a stoppage-time goal and the match ended 2-1.
With this result, Argentina are atop Group C with six points, Poland and Mexico have each collected four points and Saudi Arabia are at the bottom of the group with three points
Second-place Poland advanced to the next stage, edging out Mexico on goal difference. Poland have a goal difference of 0 and Mexico has a goal difference of -1.
