Tata Martino confirms his end as Mexico's manager
Baku, December 1, AZERTAC
Mexico is officially looking for a new national team manager after Gerardo Martino confirmed he will not continue in the position, according to Marca.
However, there are certain nuances we need to address after listening to the Argentine manager's words.
First of all, Martino doesn't try to do what other managers did in the past when their Mexican National Team contract was about to end. For example, Juan Carlos Osorio didn't talk about ending his road as National Team manager after the 2018 World Cup despite being eliminated in the Round of 16.
Nearly two hours after the final whistle, the Argentine manager jumped on the press room to talk about the final result. Martino spoke about the failed process that led to getting eliminated from the World Cup's group stage for the first time since 1978. This is what Martino said about his future as Mexico's manager, which is non-existent: "I'm the main responsible for the heartbreak we all share today. We take accountability for the failure during this World Cup. My contract ended when the referee sounded the final whistle. There is nothing more to do."
