Azerbaijani chess players contesting medals at FIDE World Team Championship in Jerusalem

Azerbaijani chess players are testing their strength at the World Team Chess Championship held in Jerusalem, Israel, on November 19 to 26.
Azerbaijani squad includes Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Teymur Rajabov, Gadir Huseynov, Rauf Mammadov, Aydin Suleymanli and Vugar Asadli.
The championships brought together 12 teams from all continents.
The tournament is being held in a new format with a shorter time-control. Under the exciting new format devised for this competition, the participant countries are split into two pools of similar strength, taking as a reference the rapid rating list for November 1. The four best teams from each pool will advance to the knock-out stage, where they will play Quarter-finals, Semi-Finals, and Final, with each duel consisting of two matches between the teams.
