Azerbaijani MPs to attend PACE committee meetings

Azerbaijani MPs will be visiting Paris, France and Athens, Greece on September 12-19 to attend the meetings of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, Monitoring Committee, Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination and Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Samad Seyidov and MP Asim Mollazade will participate in the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy on September 12-13, and the Monitoring Committee of PACE on September 14-15.
The meetings will feature discussions on strengthening the role of the Council of Europe as a cornerstone of the European political architecture, political consequences of the current situation in the countries of the region, the activities of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), other issues.
Azerbaijani MP Konul Nurullayeva will join the meeting of the PACE Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination on September 16, which will address issues such as raising awareness of and countering Islamophobia, or anti-Muslim racism, in Europe, the fight for a level playing field – ending discrimination against women in the world of sport, promoting equal access to digital technologies, stopping gender-based violence and other issues.
Azerbaijan MP’s Samad Seyidov and Nigar Arpadarai will also participate in the meeting of the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons in Athens, Greece, on September 18-19.
