Baku, September 6, AZERTAC Artifacts attributed to the Nature God “Dionysus” who had an important place in Greek mythology, are on display as part of the "You Will See What You Didn't See" project carried out at a museum in Türkiye’s western province of Izmir.Statue heads belonging to “Dionysos” are being exhibited in the Izmir Archeology Museum for the first time in 92 years after they were found.The Greek god Dionysus-Bacchus, later venerated by the Romans as Bacchus-Liber was the Olympian God of the grape harvest, winemaking, orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity, and theatre in ancient Greek religion and myth.Among the artifacts the 20-centimeter piece - the head of the statue of Dionysus - with her hair parted in the middle, her nose broken, and bruises on her right eyebrow draws the visitor's attention.The museum expert Elvan Tural told Anadolu Agency Video News (AAVN) that the first of Dionysus heads, which is considered to be about 2,000 years old, was found in the ancient city of Ephesus in 1930.Tural said the other head of the Dionysus statue is 18 centimeters long and belonged to the Hellenistic period, adding that it has been taken under protection and is being exhibited for the first time.
