Georgian exports reach monthly record-high $540 mln in July – PM

Georgia exported a record $540 million of goods in July, marking a 40 percent increase compared to the same month of 2021, the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a Government meeting, according to Agenda.ge.
The PM’s highlighting of the figure follows numbers from the National Statistics Office of Georgia that showed Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $10.18 billion between January-July 2022, posting a 35.3 percent increase year-on-year.
The value of exports rose by 36.3 percent and equaled $3.09 billion in the reported period, while imports also grew by 34.8 percent, amounting to $7.08 billion.
Trade deficit, a measure of the negative balance of trade in which imports exceed exports, reached $3.98 billion, while the share of trade turnover hit 39.2 percent.
