Mozart`s birthplace, one of most popular and well-visited sights in Austrian city of Salzburg

The house in which Wolfgang Amadé Mozart - one of the most influential, popular and prolific composers of the classical period was born on the January 27, 1756, in Austrian city of Salzburg, is now one of the most frequently visited museums in the world.
No other place makes the person behind the artist Wolfgang Amadé Mozart and his music as palpable as his birthplace.
Today the building is kept in its original shape and houses a museum about the composer’s life.
In Getreidegasse no.9, Mozart was born on 27 January 1756 and his family lived there from 1747 to 1773 until he was sixteen.
With parents Leopold and Anna Maria as well as sister "Nannerl", Mozart spend his childhood and much of his youth `there.
In 1773, the family moved to the house we know today as the "Mozart Residence", on the Makartplatz Square.
The famous composer's birthplace continues to be a magnet for Mozart fans and history buffs from around the world.
It was actually the International Mozarteum Foundation which first opened a museum in the house back in 1880. Constantly developed and expanded, this year-round museum is an absolute must for every Salzburg visitor.
In the three-storey exhibition, the visitor learns details of Mozart’s life – the domestic circumstances in which he grew up, when he began to play music, who were his friends and patrons, his relationship with his family, his passion for opera, and much more.
The Mozart Archive has existed since the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation was established in 1880.
As a source of documentation relating to Mozart’s life and works, together with his intellectual world and his impact on later generations, it collects material either in its original form or in photographic reproductions, while pursuing its own research projects and offering support and advice to independent scholars and exhibition organizers.
