Azerbaijani FM meets with OIC Secretary-General

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.
Welcoming the Secretary-General, Minister Bayramov once again congratulated Hissein Brahim Taha on his election to this important post. The minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OIC and has been actively cooperating with the Organization so far. It was noted with gratitude that the OIC has always supported Azerbaijan's just position which is based on international law; also the adoption of relevant resolutions on the settlement of the former conflict, as well as in the post-conflict phase, was highlighted.
Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha emphasized that Azerbaijan is an active member of the OIC and noted its contribution to strengthening Islamic solidarity. He noted with satisfaction the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan during his visit. The Secretary-General congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting the Conference of OIC Tourism Ministers.
FM Jeyhun Bayramov said that the Secretary-General's personal participation in the conference made a positive contribution to the event. It was stressed that Azerbaijan is determined to continue fruitful cooperation with the OIC, as well as other organizations under the OIC umbrella.
Minister Bayramov briefed the OIC leader on the post-conflict situation in the region, the ongoing restoration and reconstruction work. He said that the Secretary-General's visit to the liberated territories will provide a good opportunity to get acquainted with the situation here, including the devastation caused by Armenia for decades and the ongoing reconstruction work carried out by Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on topical issues of the OIC cooperation agenda, as well as issues of concern to the Islamic Ummah in the light of the latest developments in the world.
