International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation hosts event dedicated to Alisher Navoi

A meeting with members of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. An event dedicated to the 580th anniversary of the great master of the word of the Turkic world Alisher Navoi and a presentation of the book "Works of Alisher Navoi" published under the auspices of the organization were organized as part of the meeting.
Opening the event, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva spoke about the structure and goals of the organization, its large-scale activities to promote the rich culture of the Turkic world in the international arena. In her speech, the President of the Foundation stressed that Uzbekistan has a special place in the Turkic World with its ancient culture, history, geniuses who have contributed to world science and culture, architectural monuments. Touching upon the importance of cooperation with Uzbekistan for the Foundation, Gunay Afandiyeva noted that the development of relations would play an important role in bringing the Turkic peoples closer together. The President of the Foundation stressed that various projects are planned to promote the ancient heritage of Uzbekistan: "One of these projects is the book ”Works of Alisher Navoi” published by the organization on the occasion of the 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoi. Along with Alisher Navoi's poems, the book is decorated with miniatures of Uzbek medieval art. The poet's writing of his masterpiece "Khamsa" in Turkic is a manifestation of his love, respect and devotion to the Turkic World". Gunay Afandiyeva highly praised the work of Ramiz Asgar, Doctor of Philology, who had translated the book from Chagatai into Azerbaijani.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov thanked the President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation for organizing the event. The ambassador noted that today's event is another bright example of the successful development of cooperation between the two brotherly states - Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. "I associate the sincere words voiced in this space with the high level of trust, friendship and mutual understanding gained in bilateral relations as a result of the efforts of the leaders of countries in recent years. As mentioned earlier, Navoi devoted his entire life to the development of the Turkic language and achieved great success in this work. His unique style of writing in Turkic was highly respected in his time. The great poet has taken a worthy and firm place in the hearts of millions of readers around the world, demonstrating high universal ideas, unparalleled richness of the Uzbek language and endless possibilities of expression in his poetic and prose works," the ambassador said.
Member of the Milli Majlis, academician Nizami Jafarov spoke about the importance of the event: “This event is not the first major achievement of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. The Foundation has done a lot to bring together the literature and culture of the Turkic peoples, to share our heritage. To resemble Alisher Navoi was akin to worship in the Middle Ages. His work is one of the unique examples of Turkic literature. ”
Speaking about Alisher Navoi's invaluable place in world literature, Oydin Abdullayeva, a member of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, said that contribution to world literature of Navoi, a leading thinker of the Asian renaissance, is a shining example of cultural interaction. Navoi devoted his whole life to the development of the Turkic language and achieved great success in this work. The great poet's works are translated and published in Persian, Italian, German, French, Indian, Turkish, English, Russian, Azerbaijani, Turkmen and other languages. Alisher Navoi's invaluable creative and scientific heritage occupies a special place not only in the history of the Uzbek people, but also in the history of world literature, the development of our national culture and literary and aesthetic thinking.
Speaking at the event, member of the Milli Majlis Hikmat Babaoglu noted that the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation has done important work: “The factors that will determine the future of the Turkic World are our common literature, history and culture. Undoubtedly, Alisher Navoi has a special place among them. Navoi was a conservative writer with a deep understanding of his national identity. “
Khurshid Dosmuhamedov, a member of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, said that the two brotherly peoples are closely linked due to such great historical figures as Emir Timur, Jaloliddin Manguberdi, Nizami Ganjavi, Ulugbey and Nasraddin Tusi, Fuzuli. "Alisher Navoi, a great representative of the literature of not only Uzbeks, but of all Turkic peoples, poet and scientist, continued the traditions of Nizami Ganjavi and considered him his teacher. Ramiz Asgar's contribution to the promotion of Uzbek culture is invaluable and commendable.”
In his remarks, Rashad Majid, editor-in-chief of the 525th newspaper and a member of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan, said that the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, a Turkic space, often hosts events reflecting the cultural life of the Turkic world. Speaking about the influence of Navoi on Turkic literature, Rashad Majid called him a word artist of the whole Turkic world.
Addressing the event, Doctor of Philology, Professor Ramiz Asgar provided information about the book. "Uzbekistan has a thousand-year history and cultural past. Alisher Navoi is a master of Chagatai literature and one of the greatest poets of the Turkic world. As much as Pushkin, Dante and Shakespeare have a place in world literature, Alisher Navoi has a place in Uzbek and Turkic world literature."
During the artistic part of the event, the poet's poems were performed and the national music of Uzbekistan was presented by famous actors and actresses directed by the People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vagif Asadov.
At the end of the event, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva presented plaques to Ramiz Asgar, for his services in promoting the literary heritage of the Turkic World, and Vagif Asadov, for his services in promoting the artistic heritage of the Turkic World. Also the uzbek side handed Ramiz Asgar a letter of gratitude from the Chairman of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for his work in promoting the creativity of Navoi. There was also an exchange of gifts between the participants of the presentation.
The event was attended by members of Parliament from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, ambassadors, leaders and representatives of international organizations, and intelligentsia.
