Baku, April 8, AZERTAC
AzInTelecom LLC under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan was awarded the WSIS Prize 2021 of the International Telecommunication Union. The presentation took place during the meeting of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
It should be noted that the project “Citizens’ Electronic Appeal Portal” - www.e-qebul.az, developed last year jointly by AzInTelecom LLC and Shamakhi District Executive Authority, was awarded the prize of the contest (WSIS Prize 2021) of the World Summit on the Information Society 2021 of the International Telecommunication Union. The World Summit on the Information Society Forum took place virtually, for this reason the prize was not awarded.
The project was developed by AzInTelecom LLC on the basis of proposals of Shamakhi District Executive Authority in order to solve existing problems in the relationship between citizens and government agencies. The “Citizens’ Electronic Appeal Portal” allows citizens to apply online without going to government agencies in person.
Along with Azerbaijan, 1,270 e-projects from a number of countries were submitted to the WSIS Prize 2021 contest. Based on the opinion of the group of experts, 360 of them were allowed to participate in the contest.
The winning projects were determined by online voting in 18 categories. More than 1.3 million people worldwide took part in the voting.
The “Citizens Electronic Appeal Portal” won the contest in the “E-government” category.
