The Weeknd sets new record as Spotify’s most-streamed artist
Baku, January 25, AZERTAC
The Weeknd has become the No.1 global artist on Spotify on Saturday, amassing over 86 million monthly listeners on the digital music platform.
The feat comes after the Weeknd released his fifth studio album Dawn FM, a follow-up to 2020’s After Hours, on January 7. Following its release, the album dominated the Spotify charts as the top album around the globe and in the U.S.
Weeks after dropping his fifth full-length studio project, Dawn FM, The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, unseated Bieber for the Spotify monthly listeners throne with approximately 85.6 million listeners.
The outlet reported that Bieber previously held the top spot for a consecutive 190 days, clocking in at 83.3 million monthly listeners when he claimed the title in August 2021.
