Cairo, April 1, AZERTAC
Jordanian Nayrouz news agency has published a statement by Azerbaijan`s Embassy to the country on the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
The statement highlights the genocide committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis over the past two centuries. The statement underlines that the genocide was committed in Baku as well as Zangazur, Iravan, Nakhchivan, Shamakhi and Gazakh districts during 1905-1907, saying that grave crimes against humanity were also perpetuated in numerous Azerbaijani districts between March and April 1918.
The statement also cites President Ilham Aliyev as saying during the official inauguration of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex in 2013 that "the Armenian offenders were introduced as heroes during the soviet period, but today the historical justice was restored”.
