Aghdam, March 13, AZERTAC Upon instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, heads of a number of local media outlets and NGOs, as well as bloggers and public activists are visiting the liberated Aghdam district of Azerbaijan. They are accompanied by Head of the Department for Foreign Policy Affairs of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev.AZERTAC’s regional correspondent reports that, first they got acquainted with the mine-clearance operations around the Barda-Agdam railway located in the territory of Bash Garvand village in Aghdam.Representative of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Idris Ismayilov informed the participants of the trip about the mine-clearance operations. “This area has been cleared for more than a month by mines buried by the Armenian army. To date, 37,400 square meters of land has been inspected and 35 anti-tank mines, 41 anti-personnel mines and 2 unexploded ordnance have been found and destroyed. Search operations are underway,” he said. The participants also watched the neutralization of mines found in the area.
