Beta version of agritourism portal "From City to Village" is accessible for use

The beta version of the portal www.tovillage.az of "From City to Village", the first agritourism project implemented in Azerbaijan, is accessible for the use of the people. The main purpose of the portal is to introduce farms located in different enjoyable parts of the country to local and foreign tourists, to make alternative recreation opportunities more accessible for the travelers, to contribute to the development of agritourism in the country, as well as to contribute to improving the social welfare of the population.
It is possible to join the tours organized to travel Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Shaki, Zagatala, Lankaran and Guba regions through the portal.
Moreover, tourists can order individual tours based on their desires. The portal contains detailed information regarding each farm in which agritourism is arranged.
Those who want to order a tour can also get acquainted with the program of the tour.
Unlike other tours, travelers who join the "From City to Village" tours, visit rural homes, farms, enterprises engaged in agricultural processing. Tour participants eat natural agricultural products and local cuisines of different regions, get acquainted with different farms, participate in fruit gathering, tree planting, horseback riding, fishing and other activities depending on seasons as well as get agricultural products from farmers.
The implementation of the "From City to Village" project started in 2019. The project implemented by "Agro Procurement and Supply" OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Tourism Agency and Pasha Holding. Since the start of the project, more than 40 agro-tours have been arranged to the farms located in different regions. In total, more than 800 tourists joined these tours, nearly 150 of them are foreign tourists.
The average monthly income of each farm receiving tourists has increased by AZN 300. It should be noted that within the scope of the project, the meetings with nearly 300 farmers and agro entrepreneurs were held in different regions, and they were provided with detailed information regarding the purpose and principles of the project.
Nearly 200 farm owners have applied to join the project directly or through the website www.tovillage.az and social media accounts so far. Through 118 farms inspected, 76 of them were considered suitable for the project. 52 farmers who were considered eligible to participate in the project were trained by local and foreign experts.
Currently, there is great interest in the project and the number of applicants is growing.
Reconstruction works are being carried out on the farms that meet the requirements of the project, and they receive some technical and equipment support.
It should be noted that within the scope of the pilot project, which will last until 2021, 500 farmers will be educated and provided with the employment in the fields of agritourism.
