FIDE President: The match for the chess crown will be postponed to 2021

President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich said that the match for the title of world chess champion will be postponed until 2021.
“The match for the world championship will almost certainly be postponed to next year in connection with all the events. Informally, we have already talked about this; a formal decision, I think, will be made in the near future. We are discussing various options - both spring and autumn - but we will announce everything later, ”TASS quoted Dvorkovich.
In the match for the world chess crown, the winner of the contenders ’tournament interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic will play against the current champion, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen.
Earlier it was reported that FIDE will decide within a month to resume the applicants tournament.
