Tailor from Khachmaz joins fight against COVID-19 in Azerbaijan
Baku, March 31, AZERTAC
Aynur Aghabalayeva, a tailor from Khachmaz district of Azerbaijan has started to produce masks for the local community. Using cloth and some materials, and sewing machines provided within the project “Community Resilience to Vulnerabilities”, activity implemented by IOM Azerbaijan and funded by USAID, she and her employees already have produced hundreds of home-made masks which they are handing out to local citizens.
Aynur Aghabalayeva said that her tailor shop is located near the hospital and she witnessed that some patients without face masks were not allowed to enter the hospital. “The coronavirus pandemic has led to a shortage of face masks in Khachmaz, too. That’s why I decided to sew face masks and hand them out to people, so they can attend their medical checks,” said she.
She hopes, and believes, that many other tailors will be encouraged by this news so they will join this initiative.
