IOC pledges $10 million to anti-doping fight

Baku, November 6, AZERTAC

The International Olympic Committee has pledged $10 million to fight doping in sports, part of which would go toward storing samples from pre-Olympics testing for 10 years, according to AP.
IOC president Thomas Bach made the pledge during his speech Tuesday at a worldwide anti-doping conference being hosted by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The IOC already stores samples taken at the games for up to 10 years. It has reanalyzed hundreds of samples from the Beijing and London Games that have resulted in at least 123 positive tests.
Bach also said the IOC would commit $2.5 million each to WADA's research and investigation units; he called on government authorities to match the contribution.
