Baku, October 1, AZERTAC BP has announced that it supports the First International Conference “Target – STEM”.The goal of this training conference, being organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the “Hadaf” lyceum, is to support efforts towards applying the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) approach to educational institutions in Azerbaijan.As is seen from its name, STEM, one of the most widely applied approaches in the modern educational system, is based on the integration of subjects and aims to train specialists knowledgeable in science, technology, engineering and math. Based on a theory of constructive education, it is intended to enhance student interest in these subjects as the most important areas of the present and future.Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, BP’s Communications, External Affairs, Strategy and Region Vice President, said: “BP is very delighted to participate in this conference. We have chosen the development of education in Azerbaijan as the most important direction of our social projects. It is beyond doubt that approaches based on technology, modernization, scientific innovation and agile engineering ideas form the basis of enlightenment and education in this rapidly changing world. It is one of the educational goals of the whole world, including Azerbaijan, because only using these approaches is it possible to train specialists of innovative thinking capable of introducing positive changes to people’s lives. This is exactly why we have great hopes for this conference and believe that educational specialists, who will receive certificates today, have a major role to play in training a generation of future inventors, scientists and engineers capable of renewing and further advancing technology.”Trainers from Britain’s UKSTEM training center, Turkey’s TEKNOKENT technology center, German company “Fischertechnik” and “Hadaf” lyceum will deliver lectures at the conference, due to be held on September 28-29. Two-day trainings will be provided to 80 young teachers and students of the Azerbaijan Teachers Training University and Baku State University, and certificates will be awarded to them.The director of the “Hadaf” lyceum, Shamil Sadig, said: “Founded in 2017, the “Hadaf” lyceum is the first lyceum in Azerbaijan to be providing education using the STEM approach. We attach special importance to international cooperation and to the global sharing of knowledge and experience, and collaborate with a number of international institutions. For three years now, our lyceum has been conducting various conferences and workshops to promote and implement the concept of STEM in Azerbaijan’s education system. In the past two years, trainers from our lyceum and foreign institutions have conducted “Target – STEM” trainings covering 300 teachers, where we provide first-hand information on modern educational innovations. We are grateful to BP for its support of this year’s conference.”
