More than 20 people are dead and nearly 40 others were injured Thursday after a man ignited a flammable liquid at an animation studio in Kyoto, local police and rescuers said, according to Kyodo News.
The local authorities earlier said 13 had died in the three-story building of Kyoto Animation Co., where about 70 people were believed to have been working when the fire erupted at around 10:35 a.m.
The local fire department said it found about 10 more people without vital signs as it continued to search the building.
