Baku hosts 5th International Summer Law School

The 5th International Summer Law School has been organized in Baku, bringing together 34 law students from 17 European countries. The event was arranged by the representation of the European Law Students` Association (ELSA) in Azerbaijan, and the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony of the international event, which is dedicated to the human trafficking, was held at the office of the State Migration Service.
Addressing the event, the employee of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Elshan Bayramov, Deputy Chief of the International Relations Department of the State Migration Service Ulvi Aliyev and Chief officer of the Main Department on Combating Human Trafficking of Ministry of Internal Affairs Ramil Kazimov highlighted the institutional and legislative reforms carried out in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. They drew the audience’s attention to the successful efforts towards fight against illegal migration and trafficking in human beings. They hailed the successful international and local projects implemented by the ELSA Azerbaijan in the country.
The 5th International Summer Law School in Baku also featured fam trips to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, “ASAN xidmət” centers, as well as the Heydar Aliyev Centre, Alley of Martyrs, Carpet Museum and Maiden Tower.
The European Law Students` Association (ELSA) is an international, independent, non-political, non-profit organization run by and for law students. ELSA-activities comprise a large variety of academic and professional events that are organized to fulfill the vision of ELSA. Today ELSA is the world`s largest independent law students association and it is represented at nearly 300 law faculties in 42 countries across Europe with membership in excess of 40,000 students and young lawyers. Azerbaijan has joined ELSA since 2010 and is one of its most active members.
