Zuzana Caputova leads in Slovakia's presidential polls
Baku, March 17, AZERTAC
Zuzana Caputova is leading in Slovakia's presidential polls, the country's Central Electoral Commission said, according to TASS.
Caputova, a lawyer from Pezinok in western Slovakia, serves as Deputy Chairperson of non-parliamentary party Progressive Slovakia.
"After counting the votes from 21.57% of polling stations, Zuzana Caputova received 38.92% of votes," the commission said adding that "voter turnout stood at 46.04%."
Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic received 18.88% of votes, while former Minister of Justice Stefan Harabin earned 14.53% of votes.
Slovak political analysts think that Caputova will not be able to secure more than 50% of votes and will have to compete in the second round of presidential elections scheduled for March 30.
The official poll results will be announced by Slovakia's Central Electoral Commission at a press conference on Sunday.
