Azerbaijan, Switzerland hold political consultations

The next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation has been held in Baku.
The delegations were headed by Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov and Swiss Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Krystyna Marty Lang.
They hailed the high level of political dialogue between the two countries, analyzed the current state of the bilateral relations and exchanged views on the cooperation prospects.
The sides praised the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, cooperation in the Bretton Woods Institutions and expressed their interest in further expanding ties in a variety of fields.
They lauded the bilateral economic relations and mutual investments, as well as the activities of Holcim, Stadler Rail Group and other Swiss companies in Azerbaijan and SOCAR in Switzerland. The sides said that there are wide opportunities for further strengthening cooperation, especially in the economic sphere.
The delegations also discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and illegal activities in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani side underlined the importance of the peaceful settlement of the dispute.
The event also featured discussions on economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, participation of Swiss companies in the Southern Gas Corridor project, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
