Secretary General: Azerbaijan is an active partner of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Elhadj As Sy has described Azerbaijan as an active partner of the Federation as he met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
They exchanged views on the current state of relations and development prospects between Azerbaijan and the IFRC, expressing their hope that the successful cooperation between the sides will be further strengthened.
Secretary-General Elhadj As Sy hailed the level of humanitarian work carried out in Azerbaijan and the current level of cooperation with the country.
The sides also exchanged views on increasing activities of national societies, the projects implemented at the national and regional formats, and the steps taken to support humanitarian activities.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov pointed to the projects and programs implemented by the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in various countries, as well as the work done in the field of humanitarian aid.
The Secretary General said that he is aware of the AIDA, established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan which is in charge of international humanitarian and development assistance, showing an interest in closely familiarizing himself with the activities and projects of this organization.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov briefed the IFRC Secretary General about the 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis as a result of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, pointing out the need to guarantee release of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who were taken hostages while visiting the graves of their parents in Kalbajar district occupied by Armenian armed forces.
