AISEL to represent Azerbaijan for Eurovision 2018

In a jury meeting, the Azerbaijani national broadcaster İTV officially announced their representative for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, with the country once again opting for an internal selection for their artist choice.
Aysel Mammadova, known under her stage name AISEL, has been announced as the next Azerbaijani representative for Eurovision 2018, becoming the country's 11th act for the competition.
Born in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku on the 3 July 1989, AISEL was born into a family of singers and performers, having grown up with music being a strong influence in her life since her early childhood.
She studied in a specialist music school from 1995 all the way through to 2006, before graduating from university in 2010.
Since then, the Azerbaijani singer has performed in a number of music festivals, both locally and internationally, some of which include the Baku International Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Caucasus Jazz Festival.
A big jazz/soul singer, AISEL is not only a vocalist, but a pianist, composer and arranger.
Azerbaijan will compete in one of the 2 semi-finals on either the 8 or 10 May at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, hoping to continue the country's success in the competition.
