"Riyadh" newspaper publishes articles of Azerbaijani Ambassador on January 20 tragedy

Saudi Arabia’s leading newspaper "Riyadh" has published articles in Arabic and English languages by Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rasim Rzayev, dedicated to the bloody events of 20 January.
The articles describe the crimes by the military forces of the former Soviet Union committed from 19 to 20 January 1990 in Azerbaijan. Noting that these tragic events were a crime against human values, Rasim Rzayev writes about the events of January 20, which led to the death of innocent people, caused serious moral and material damage to Azerbaijan, as well as a violation of all human rights.
Emphasizing that the events of Bloody January became the last treacherous policy act of the Soviet empire in relation to the leadership of Azerbaijan, the author provides information about children, the elderly and women that were killed and wounded, also about prohibited weapons used by Soviet troops.
The article also brings to the attention of readers a sharp condemnation of war crimes committed against our people, which were expressed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev at the press conference at the permanent mission of Azerbaijan in Moscow, political and legal assessment of January 20 gained in future years as a result of the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, perpetuating the memory of the innocent people who lost their lives during this tragedy, as well as the state taking care of the families of killed and wounded during the military intervention.
