Argentine portal: Black January is the turning point in Azerbaijan`s independence history
Baku, January 20, AZERTAC
Argentina-based Equilibrium Global portal has published an article on the Black January events that happened in Baku in 1990 when the Soviet army stormed the Azerbaijani capital to murder and wound hundreds of innocent people.
The article says that ordered by Mikhail Gorbachov, a 26,000-strong Soviet army marched into Baku in an attempt to crack down on the independence movement.
The portal says the Soviet army killed more than 100 civilians and wounded over 700 others, including women, children and the elderly.
However, the brutal regime utterly failed, and Black January became the turning point in Azerbaijan`s independence history, the portal says.
