Apple is planning a high-tech manufacturing site in Arizona

Baku, January 11, AZERTAC
Apple wants authorization to operate a "high-tech manufacturing" site in Arizona, Business Insider reports.
The tech giant wants to make “finished products” in what is known as a foreign-trade zone, according to a notification published in the Federal Register on Monday. The company is asking the Foreign-Trade Zones Board for permission to do so. Such special zones allow companies to bypass duties when they import or export products.
The proposed facility in Mesa would be unusual for Apple and other American technology firms, which typically manufacture their products abroad. But the facility would be limited to production of equipment like servers used for internal operations, not consumer products like the iPhone.
Apple is one of several companies that have come under fire from President-elect Donald Trump for producing products internationally.
